We conducted two separate studies, the first to pinpoint the behaviors that lead to financial and emotional confidence for Americans, and the second to uncover the financial behaviors that are unique to millennials.

Our methodology to discover the financial and emotional confidence of Americans:

Guardian commissioned a representative national survey of 4,971 Americans (18+) working full-time or part-time, never retired, with household incomes of $50k or more.

Our results were weighted by age, gender, household income, ethnicity, and region to conform to U.S. Census parameters.

The study included an oversample of 2,921 workers, also 18+ and similarly weighted, with household income of $100k or more.

The study was conducted online from December 28, 2015 through January 22, 2016.
